Judicial Leadership
As a Magistrate, Genevieve has presided over civil and criminal cases, ensuring that the law is applied fairly and with unwavering integrity to every individual in the courtroom.
Meet Genevieve Taylor
I am a dedicated public servant and parent who chose Macomb to be my home over 25 years ago. I have practiced law for nearly two decades, bringing deep, hands-on experience to the courtroom, guided by fairness, preparation, and respect for the law.
I was raised by parents who instilled in me the value of hard work and service. My father was a Vietnam War veteran and a union pipeworker, and my mother was a single parent who worked multiple jobs to keep food on the table. I was the first in my family to graduate from college—an experience that taught me perseverance, responsibility, and the importance of opportunity.
My legal practice has focused on indigent defense, ensuring constitutional protections, and equal access to justice. In addition, I have experience in civil, probate, juvenile, and family law matters, giving me a broad and practical understanding of the law. My deep roots in this community shape my understanding of how judicial decisions affect real families, real people, and real lives.
Public Service & Milestones
Magistrate, 40th District Court: Sitting as a neutral judicial officer has given me an unbiased perspective from the bench, requiring careful application of the law, fairness to all parties, and independent decision-making.
Trustee, Lakeview School District: Elected trustee committed to transparency, fiscal responsibility, and advocating for students, families, and educators in the Lakeview community.
Macomb County Treatment Courts – Past & Present Service
• Former President of Macomb County Community Drug Courts, Inc., responsible for identifying funding opportunities and generating resources to support and strengthen Macomb County Circuit Court Treatment Courts.
• Current member of Treatment Courts at both the Circuit Court and District Court levels, continuing to support rehabilitation, accountability, and evidence-based justice.
In addition to decades of experience, my career has been profoundly shaped by personal loss - my brother to suicide and my sister to an overdose. As a judge, I intend to embrace these experiences which have deepened my compassion and strengthened my commitment to treating every person who comes before the court with dignity, humanity, and fairness—while still upholding accountability and the rule of law.
